Saree's a first grader

Since school started a few weeks before our house was ready we decided to drive the kids down to Sherwood rather than have them start in Hillsboro.  Saree is one of the smartest kids in her class.  She easily reads at a 2nd grade level and finishes math homework before I even have a chance to look over it.  She has struggling a little bit with her new school and missing Samantha (whom she fought with daily).  She has been a little boy crazy though (where did that come from).  A few weeks ago her teacher pulled Tovey aside and showed him a letter she had written to a boy in her class (Julian).  She told him she loved him and wanted to marry him.  Mrs. Mechan told Tovey, "We really encourage friendship but not romantic relationships in the first grade".  I was so upset by this, because WE TOO do not encourage friendships, your preaching to the choir lady!  No, my husband just smiles and says he'll talk to her about it.  Saree has done a really good job of backing off.

One cute story about Saree was when she pulled me aside after Cooper had said our family prayer and said, "Mom I really like the way Coop organizes his thoughts for his prayers".  I just thought it was cool that she recognized that.  It's just when you think they aren't listen that you get pleasantly surprised.
